ACE THE FINAL JOB INTERVIEW

You’re almost nearing the finish line. Here’s where you’re going to meet the toughest competition but it’s here that your efforts will finally bear fruit. Congratulate yourself on reaching this far, and then roll up your sleeves and get to work.

Interviews are all about striking the right balance between personality and professionalism.

Be genuine.

Stifling your innate personality or exaggerating it will be apparent, both in your body language and your words. Be yourself. You managed to get this far based on your merit, believe in yourself and the people interviewing you.

Highlight.

Talk about your strengths but don’t cover up your weaknesses. The final interview is almost always done with the motive of gauging how easily you’ll assimilate into the work culture. Take this opportunity to subtly remind them of your talents while also informing them of the steps you are taking to improve on your pain points. Being proactive always leaves the interviewer with a good impression of you.

Ask questions.

Being inquisitive is a good trait. Imagine yourself to already be a part of the company and think of the questions that might come up. If you get a chance, make sure to voice it out loud. Thoughtful questions are a sign of capable potential.

Practice power poses.

Science dictates that while your mind can dictate your body, the converse happens to be equally true. Take a few minutes to go through the power poses before entering the designated room.

Be comfortable in your own skin.

Wear an outfit that is professional yet comfortable. You want to avoid fidgeting around and showing signs of distress at all costs. Don’t compromise your comfort for appearance. As mentioned earlier, strike a balance.

Write a thank you letter

A thank you letter automatically puts you in the good graces of the interviewers. Write an authentic and short letter to them, thanking them for their time and opportunity.

Most importantly, trust yourself. You got this far. You’re capable of crossing the finishing line too.

Congratulations and the best of luck!
