Cultivating A Culture Of Wellbeing At Workplaces

There is now a growing need to integrate well-being in organizations because they stand to benefit positively and lead to an organization’s success. An organizational culture centered around the well-being of its employees is associated with increased turnover and leads to increased productivity. Some ways of fostering a culture of wellbeing in the modern-day workplaces are:

Knowing Employee Needs

The first thing that every employer should understand is the needs and wants of employees that can make the workplace enjoyable and lead to efficient output. Conducting surveys or having open conversations can throw light on aspects that might have not struck the management and may need attention. An example would be as simple as setting up a water purifier in the pantry or cake cutting for birthdays that makes an employee feel valued and his needs taken care of.

Encourage Good Work-Life Balance

It is important to promote healthy work-life integration. Post-COVID-19 flexible work arrangements have proved successful and so, remote working, and postponing work obligations are all constituents that can highlight the need for a good balance. Respecting off-duty hours is crucial and is often disregarded. Having a flexible work environment is geared towards enabling employees to balance professional engagements and personal responsibilities without increasing stress.

Design Wellbeing Programs

Organizations are investing in well-being programs that cover all domains- the physical, mental, and emotional health of an individual. An office gym, organizing games and meditation among others, and programs targeted at mental health can yield positive results.

Leading The Way

Having a leader who prioritizes his well-being is more likely to understand the needs of others. Leadership can foster a culture of well-being and set a positive example.
